Dear Secretary,
I have an unusual request. My name is Peter Butcher, and my connection to Abberley is through my father, Sid Butcher, who grew up there in the 1920s and 30s.
The reason for writing is that I have written a book, Pilots Only Borrow Our Planes. The April and May editions of the Abberley Parish Magazine carried articles about my father, who is the subject of the book. Andrew Mawby, the magazine’s editor, has been very helpful, and he has suggested I contact your Society.
Ahead of publication, I’m looking for people to read through the manuscript and give their honest reactions – what worked well, what didn’t, and whether the story kept them interested and engaged. I have some guidelines to help manuscript readers provide me with their feedback.
Given that a few scenes in the book are set in Abberley, I’m looking for at least one person with a local connection. I wondered whether any of your members might be willing to help? If so, I would be most grateful to hear from them.
Kind regards
Peter Butcher
